Weed and Seed Data Center

Data Sources

• Government Performance and Reporting Act (GPRA) data reports The GPRA Part I form is submitted annually by each Local Site along with its grant application to the Community Capacity Development Office (CCDO). This information is processed by the Justice Research and Statistics Association (JRSA) staff for CCDO and verified by each Local Site before publication on the Weed and Seed Data Center Web site. A GPRA Part II form may be submitted during the program year if any major characteristics of a Local Site change such as Safe Haven facilities or other program activities.

Unless otherwise indicated, the information currently shown on the Weed and Seed Data Center Web site is from the GPRA forms submitted in Fiscal Year 2005.

• Local Weed and Seed Site maps The depictions of the Weed and Seed target areas and Safe Haven locations are based on information submitted by the Local Sites in their annual GPRA reports and grant applications. The JRSA staff generate the computer-based maps from these materials. These maps are subsequently verified by each Local Site.

The streets base maps are licensed from TeleAtlas, Inc. MapInfo Professional and MapExtreme software from MapInfo Corporation are used to create and interactively display the maps.

If a site has not submitted, or has submitted an unusable map, these tables will be blank.

The 2000 statistics are U.S. Census data which are the most recent available information. The 2005 population estimates were obtained from the Allocate demographic data files distributed by SRC, Inc. These statistics are subsequently reviewed by each Local Site.
